e-skills UK welcomes Michael Gove’s announcement to change the way IT is taught in schools

Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, announces today a consultation to scrap the ICT programme of study from September 2012. e-skills UK believes the announcement is a vital and historic step towards creating a new approach to teaching IT in schools. The Minister acknowledges e-skills UK’s Behind the Screen project, which is already underway to create a new IT GCSE and delivery methodology.

Consultation on redevelopment of Scottish MA framework for IT & Telecoms

New Apprenticeship certification service ACE going live on 19th January 2012

The new apprenticeship certification online system for England is scheduled to go live from 19th January. The new service called ACE (Apprenticeship Certificates England) will be run by the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils. SSCs will be going live using a phased approach with e-skills UK being included in the week starting Monday 6th February.
