e-Tourism

What is e-Tourism?

E-Tourism refers to the application of ICTs on the tourism industry. The e-tourism concept includes all business functions (i.e., e-commerce, e-marketing, e-finance, ...) for all sectors of the tourism industry, including travel, transport, leisure, hospitality, principals, intermediaries and public sector organisations.

Why do we focus on e-Tourism?

Tourism demand is moving online. Looking forward, successful tourism organisations will increasingly need to rapidly identify consumer needs and interact with prospective clients by using personalised and up-to-date communication media for the design of products that satisfy tourism demand. To face these challenges, well trained professionals are needed.

e-Tourism initiatives

The European Commission is working with stakeholders to create an Information & Communications Technologies and tourism business initiative - in order to examine how to boost the competitiveness of small businesses in the European tourism sector and create more jobs.
